Rana Zia Ur Rehman is a Data Scientist in the Data Science & Digital Health organization at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. His work focuses on developing digital measures and machine learning methods to monitor inflammation, fatigue, and disease progression using wearable sensors. At J&J, he supports and leads analytical efforts across therapeutic areas including Immunology, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, Neuroscience, and Oncology. Prior to joining J&J, Rana was a Research Associate at Newcastle University, where he advanced novel signal processing and machine learning techniques to assess sleep, fatigue, and motor symptoms in neurodegenerative and immune disorders. He has also conducted collaborative research and spent time at EPFL, the University of Kiel, and KAIST, working on digital health innovations ranging from fall risk assessment to energy expenditure prediction. Rana earned his PhD in Translational and Clinical Research from Newcastle University, UK, an MS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from KAIST, South Korea, and a BSc in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. His work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at leading international conferences.
